Our own Mathieu on the Stage!

Those of you who were at the Toronto GTG know that our very own Mathieu was rehearsing to play a part in "Joseph".

We went to see the production last night and Mathieu was great!! The whole production was great!
I had not seen the play and was so, so pleased that I went.
Everyone played their part very well, inluding Mathieu, who played Simeon, one of Joseph's brothers.
I could tell he was thoroughly enjoying himself. IT showed in his performance.

Mathieu, Congratulations! Excellent!

Hi kodi. I was wondering whether some of the GTG-ites were going to be able to make it to the show.

Mathieu, congratulations!! Wish I could have seen it.

Wow, how did I miss any discussion of this? Where was it, kodi? The only production I've ever seen is my 12-year-old niece's school play and it was, um...good. Ya, that's it. Good.

Hi guys.
Anselm, too bad you weren't closer. But then, you could have 'zoomed' up in your great car!!

Hdm, Mathieu sent us all an email on the group email list. Are you on it?

We really did enjoy ourselves.
And I'm sure Mathiew did too. He really was great and looked like he was enjoying himself.
I loved all the costumes.

Oh, hdm, sory I forgot to answer your question. It was at the local theatre in Vaughan at Steeles and Bathurst.
THis coming week it's at a theatre in New Market or Aurora, I think. If you are interested, maybe email Mathieu. I don't think I still have the details.

Oh, I've been to that theatre for my nieces' ballet recitals. I don't recall getting that email so maybe I'm not on the list (although I do seem to be on every penis-enlargement email list in the world).

Dear Kodi,

I am truly sorry that it has taken me this long to reply. Truth is that all my time over the weekend was spent on the show performing and then helping move from one venue to the other and I haven't been on this board all weekend until this morning.

First and foremost, thank you so much for coming to see our show, and for your kind comments. I was truly touched that you would drive all the way from Burlington with your niece to show your support and I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. We have been playing to very appreciative audiences and have had 3 houses full on the weekends.

Yes indeed, as you noticed (!) we had a lot of fun with the show, and I enjoyed playing my role, and adding a bit of my own to it !!! However, I re-iterate that all this was purely recreational and I have no intention of giving up my day job. I was unfortunately beleaguered with laryngitis 3 days before opening and am still battling it, though it is improving. We have 8 more shows to go this week.

Apart from that, it was truly delightful and a pleasure to see you again. Who'd have thought that FODORS correspondence and one GTG could spawn such friendships ? (same with you Anselm). Thank you, again.

HDM, I'm sorry but I must not have your e-addy else you would have received my e-mail about the show. However, you are most welcome to see it this week as we move to Newmarket Theatre and open there this Wed. Nov. 28 through Sun. Dec. 2nd for 6 public shows and 2 school shows. We play Wed. - Sat at 7.30pm and Sat and Sun. at 2.00 pm
You may purchase tickets directly by calling the Box Office (I don't have a number handy but will post it when I get to the office tomorrow). The theatre is located on the north side of Mulock Drive, just west of Leslie St. Easiest way to get there is from the east, by exiting off Hgy 404 onto Mulock. It would be very nice to meet you.

Anselm, thank you for your good wishes and reminder this morning. I've also sent you a PM, and will later send you and Kodi and anyone else interested a link to some photos.

Kind regards to all,

M.

Mathieu, I can only imagine how busy you were all weekend.

If anyone can get up to New Market this weekend, I highly recommend it.
It was so much fun to actually know someone in the show.

Yes, when I went to the Toronto GTG, I never imagined it would lead to me going to Vaughan to see a wonderful play, and new friendships.

I'd love to see photos, and I'd love to know when your mext play is....even though you won't be giving up your day job!!!! I'd love to see the next one.

I recommend... I'm not being offered any watches, but I could get rich in the stock market, while taking drugs.

M, good luck this weekend. I hope your laryngitis is better.

Hi to all,
I'll confirm that there were no signs of laryngitis at Saturday's performance. Singing, dancing, and pretty well on stage for the whole performance, Mathieu showed his versatility to an appreciative audience. And.. a Caribbean-influenced song was his big solo moment and much fun. I also appreciated the French cafe scene, but that's just me . A nice way to spend a wintery afternoon.
Mike

Thanks for the update, Mike.

Mathieu, sounds like you're a natural! Hope that laryngitis has disappeared.

Oh my goodness, Mike, you come to see it ! Wow, and thank you !

The Saturday shows were a riot (for us on stage) because, I think, they were some of the final ones and we were acutely aware that the end was near. Even though we were saddened at the prospect of it all ending after the months of prep., we still had a bit of extra fun with it all for those shows. There were gags and tricks galore among the cast, but hopefully none that the audience could discern ! I guess you were at the matinee performance ? Thank you for coming.

So... the big question to you and Kodi who saw the show : Does a 'fro become me ???
(That 60s scene was the cast's favourite. When we first saw our costumes for it, we couldn't believe it! Wonderful. Funny thing is that about a third of our cast were born in the 70s or later and had no idea of the era that was being represented by it.)

Thanks for inquiring about the laryngitis everyone. It is much improved than before but I'm not done with it completely unfortunately and have been told that it will take a while longer to get over. I'm still crackly after 7.00pm everyday. Maybe I need a vacation somewhere. Paris perhaps ?
(I can see you enjoying that scene Mike! )

I will soon send you, Kodi and Anselm a link to some pictures.

I am also PMing you all.

Cheers,

M.
