one week trip to Nova Scotia

Jump to last reply

My Husband and I are wanting to do a one week trip to Nova Scotia for our anniversary. (August 14- 21) We are wanting too see as much as we can but at a relaxed pace. We are interested in seeing Halifax(day that we arrive) and overnight and the on tho explore!
Interests include: The Cabot trail - we would like to see beaches, do a hike or two, whale watch, but also have time for leisurely meals and time to relax. Just wondering how to plan so that we can make day stops along the way but wondering where would be the best places to stay for the night?
We would like two stay a least two nights in one place on our anniversary Aug17-18 on a waterfront property (Keltic Lodge???) We would also like to see Peggy's Cove.
Just trying to come up with an itinerary that would give us the best experience for our time!
Any help would be appreciated as there is so much information available I am overwhelmed!

Thank you

Well, at least you have some parameters... so begin with the two nights at (Keltic Lodge).

So that's the nights OF Aug 17 and 18 there.

It makes further sense that you see Peggy's Cove on the first swing near Halifax, making sure you don't miss-out for having put it off for later.

SO that probably suggests staying that first night IN Halifax... which is good also for reasons of your being able to gain a sense of the place for optimizing any time you'll have there when readying for the (plane flight?) back home.

SO, arriving on the 14th... spending that night in Halifax, and maybe targeting Peggy's Cove for lunch the next day... or even an early dinner?

I am winging-it here when listing MY best ideas for stops/nights:

    Night OF

    14th - Halifax
    15th - Pictou (after 1 hr. 45 min drive)
    16th - Baddeck (after 2 hr. 20 min drive)
17th - Keltic Lodge (after driving the Cabot Trail the long(er) way) (3 hours of driving time)

    18th - Keltic Lodge

After that, if it's me, maybe I haul all the way over to Hopwell Cape, NB just to get the full effect of the Fundy Tides...

But if it's you, perhaps your remaining two nights are best spent back in Halifax for a more leisurely pace.

Both agreeing that you need to spend that last night (the 20th) back IN Halifax for ease of departure the next day.

Those are just my impulses based on what you've envisioned.
