my husband and I will be arriving in seattle, heading to Bellingham, and then on to Vancouver for a week. We will then head to Spokane for a week. Its been years since I have been there, and he has never. All I know for sure that I want to do, is go to Vancouver Island, and go out on a whale watch, visit the suspension bridge, and, possibly Whistler or Tofino. Need help with plans...We will probably take amtrak from Seattle, stop for a night in Bellingham, and then on to Vancouver. Don't know if we should rent a car, or rely on transit, and how easy is that to navigate? I could really use some input!!
one week in vancouver

If you want to go to Tofino, then you'll need a car. And plan to spend at least 2 nights. When will you be making this trip? Tofino would probably be pretty well booked up for the rest of the summer anyway.
You don't need a car in Vancouver itself, you can rely on good public transportation.
Why would you stop in Bellingham?
A blander more anonymous pace it's hard to imagine.
Once you arrive here you'll find yourself on the well trodden tourist track faithfully following the hordes-no worries.
i want to visit Bellingham again, because i was there with my brother a good many years ago, and he has since passed. he was the one who took me to Vancouver the first time, and I have so many memories I shared there with him...
we will be there in there fairly soon..so, i guess we'll just get the car, and have more flexibility. a friend has urged us to 'stop' in Glacier Park as we head to Spokane, and I wonder if we could even do the park justice to 'see' it in one day...
