We are leaving family and I for St. Johns from Montreal next week on CanJet staying from Tuesday or Wednesday through the following Monday.
We will take a boat tour, but do we really need to rent a car? Any bits of advice?

Hi Candice:
A boat tour will be great. There have been alot of whale sightings, Orcas, Humpback, Minki last week. I was fortunate to get a ride on the Zodiac at O'Briens, best time ever. A bit pricey at $60 each, but worth every penny. They also do the bird sancutary about 2 1/2 hrs. I think they will pick you up at a local hotel in St. John's - info may be online. If you are staying in St. John's there are alot of hiking trails, Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi, the Geo Center, and great places to eat. For a small town St. John's is very cosmopolitan, enjoy your time. Don't forget George Street.

That sounds great I will look them up. I like cities but I live in one, did you go outside of St. Johns? Are some small towns worth visiting?
Candice,
Witless Bay is a short drive from St. Johns. From there you can book a boat to a bird sanctuary and hopefully see whales, puffins and other wildlife. I believe that a few outfits will provide transportation to/from St. Johns.
