We are planning our honeymoon for October 2003 (Sept. 27 wedding)and my fiance found the website for Oak Bay Beach Hotel. It sounds like it is exactly what we are looking for - great rooms, hiking, biking, whale watching (I cannot WAIT to go whale watching again!), with pub and restaurant on the premises
However, I have had enough disappointing experiences with overhyped hotels, B&Bs, etc. Has anybody ever stayed at this resort? What is your opinion?? Thanks in advance for any comments.

It is old and quaint. I have never stayed in a room, but I imagine it's age might affect the size of the rooms.
The pub is good. It is not a loud music dancing kind of place.
We had our wedding reception there in one of (or the?) banquet room(s)
It is not downtown, but in the most upscale residential neighbourhood.
Will you have a car?
If you want the 'bit of England' ambiance of Victoria, this is the place to stay.
