Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Grand Manan, Acadia
Planning to visit Maine, Nova Scotia, NB, and Grand Manan Island this fall. DH and I will fly to Boston on Sept 28; returning to Boston to fly home on October 13th. We were thinking about the following trip plan.
Day 1 - Flight arrives in Boston around noon - Drive to Calais or St. Andrews.
Day 2 - Drive to Saint John - take ferry to Digby.
Day 3 - Digby Neck - Brier Island and whale watching,
Day 4 - Drive to Halifax visiting Annapolis Valley on the way.
Day 5 - Halifax - Day drip to Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay, and Lunenburg.
Day 6 - Halifax - downtown, late afternoon drive to Truro and overnight.
Day 7 - Drive to Baddeck see Highlands Village/Baddeck area - overnight
Day 8 - Cape Breton
Day 9 - Cape Breton
Day 10 - Alma/Fundy
Day 11 - Hopewell Rocks/Fundy
Day 12 - Take morning ferry to Grand Manan Island
Day 13 - Grand Manan Island
Day 14 - Acadia National Park (have visited before)
Day 15 - Acadia (carriage) and afternoon drive to Boston
Day 15 - Fly home in the am
Any suggestions? Too much? We definitely want to experience Fundy, Cape Breton, Celtic culture and lots of seafood. We enjoy moderate hiking, history and want to spend some time on the water.

I like your plan.
Let's take a look @ Day 6. Truro is only an hour from Halifax. And, there's not a lot to see in Truro. So, you may want to consider re-thinking that. Perhaps head to Baddeck on Day 7. Skip the Truro overnight. Halifax to Baddeck is about 4 hours.
What do you have in mind for Cape Breton? Baddeck is in CB. Cabot Trail? For me, the highlight of the Cabot Trail is the Ingonish area so I wld factor in an overnight there(leaving from Baddeck, travelling counter-clockwise around the Cabot Trail).
Day 10: Unfortunately, I know nothing about Alma/Fundy & how you get there from CB so cannot comment on that.
Finally, as you probably know, Canadian Thanksgiving, 2013 is Monday, October 14. So, the weekend of Friday, Oct 11 will be a busy one.

Thanks for the reply OceanBreeze1.
I agree, that may be the thing to do. Our thinking was to leave Halifax late afternoon and get a head start toward Baddeck to have more of Day 7 to visit the area. The plan right now is to spend some of day in Baddeck then over to Iona to visit Highlands Village and maybe try to do a sailing venture on Bras d'Or. Day 8 to the Cabot Trail - we found a great cottage in Dingwall. We want to continue through CB but not sure where to stop for Day 9. We were thinking music in Mabou and beaches in Inverness but not sure?? Any suggestions of must see/do along the CB? Was happy to see you responded to my post - have long admired your posts/knowledge of the area.

Oh yes - it was a hard decision to exclude it for this trip. We decided it needed its own vacation and plan a future trip to PEI and ferry to Newfoundland. Just didn't think we had time to do it justice and DH was concerned about too much time in the car. Any "don't miss" for Cape Breton or Fundy Coast? Grand Manan?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
