Nova Scotia Itinerary

Jump to last reply

Hello everyone! I am finishing my last year of university and to celebrate I am going on a two week vacation to Nova Scotia June 2017. I live in Ontario and will be driving. I've never visited anywhere outside Ontario and am looking forward to exploring some of the East Coast! I have decided to book off two weeks of work in order to visit and enjoy as much of the Province as I can. I have read the other forums and consulted the Nova Scotia tourism website, it is quite informative! Based on what I've read here is the itinerary I have come up with. I was hoping for some feedback. One can only infer so much from reading about a location where as those who live there may be able to say "This place doesn't need that much time." or "Make sure you stop .........". Thanks in advance for anyone who replies!

Friday night drive to Ottawa.

Saturday drive to Amherst, Nova Scotia (11.5 hour drive)

Sunday morning visit the Joggins Fossil Cliffs before driving to Cheticamp

Monday hike the Skyline Trail in Highlands National park and dine in Cheticamp

Tuesday drive the scenery drive of the Cabot trail to Halifax
Hang out in Halifax till Thursday

Thursday head to Peggy's cove to see the lighthouse and explore shops, food, etc

Saturday head to Lunenberg to see the Bluenose II and wander Old Lunenberg

Monday head to Yarmouth to wander the old village shops etc.

Wednesday go to Kejimkujik National Park to camp under the stars and hike

Friday head home stopping to walk on the ocean floor at Burntcoat National Park

** I will be hiking, walking and exploring each city/town for the 1 1/2 day(s), including the beaches, Ocean and food! **

I was going to stop in Louisbourg to see the Fortress of Louisbourg before heading to Halifax but it would eat up over a day and I didn't see anything else majorly intriguing in Louisbourg that couldn't be experienced in another city.
