Nova Scotia Cape Breton Itinerary Help Please

Jump to last reply

My husband and I are beginning to plan a trip to Nova Scotia in late July. We have 10 nights altogether and would like to spend about half in Cape Breton. That is where I need help. We'd like to do some light hiking, enjoying music, and basic sightseeing. We aren't interested in Louisberg or Sydney, we want to spend our time on the Cabot Trail and the western (Gulf of Lawrence) side. My question is, what are good locations to spend the night? Should we find one or two places that would be good bases ? I was thinking of maybe Ingonish for one or two nights, Chiticamp for one or two nights, and Mabou. Does this make sense? Any other thoughts?

Thank you!
