Hi I am hoping to take a 7 day cruise on HAL on 11th Sept. I would like a short city break in Vancouver for 3 nights prior to departure. Does anyone have any ideas about a reasonable place to stay, in a safe neighbourhood, which will be convenient for picking up the Zaandam on the 11th?
Thanks
Nice Place to Stay Near the Cruise Ships

We stayed in the Marriott Renaissance in a waterfront room. Had a balcony, heated floor in the bathroom-very quiet, good time.and a casino-under the hotel.
10 minute walk to Canada Place-but we took a cab when we went to the ship.
At Canada Place, we bought a 2 day pass on a double decker bus-stops at all the areas to see and every 1/2 hour get on one a go somewhere else.
around the hotels are office bldgs. and each one has a deli-type place for b'fast & lunch. Alot of good rest. a short cab ride away or eat in the hotel.
From our balcony, watch the ships coming in.
This sounds right up our street. Do you mind me asking what the cost was?
I used our Marriott points but go to their website or check some others.
The cruise season up there is really their busy (read expensive) time-so it won't be cheap-but-I would still stay there. It's not like you would go there frequently.
BTW, we went on the Maasdam last year on Sept. 18-stayed on board and repositioned back to Ft. Laud. , 28 days total, and I would do it again anytime. I only wish I had planned more time in AK.
But in the towns in Sept., they were discounting all their merchandise 50-75% off., and on the ship, too. We bought so much that we went to pack & ship in Ketchikan and sent it home !!
I highly recommend the Fairmont Waterfront. Just across the street from the cruise ship terminal. The hotel has a porterage service as well and will make sure your luggage is sent directly to the ship. The service is great.
Thanks for all your help. Now booked into the Fairmont Waterfront and the whole hotel looks fabulous.
