On foot, visitors see elephants playing in a lake, other animal shows, a bird show where various birds fly over yourhead and maybe even land on you (not scary, andyou can stay away if you get frightened)
In warm days there's a water play area for kids.
Last time we where there, food in the concession area was reasonably good and reasonably priced.
And then you get back into your own car, and drive though some gates into a large area where, as you drive, you see lots of anumals out the windows. Lions and tigers and zebras and lots more. Plus monkeys that climb on top of your car.
To me, it's a lot more fun that the Toronto Zoo, and we certainly got to see the animals a lot closer up.
Ifyou don't want monkeys on your car, you can take a bus tour inside the enclosed area instead.
It's actually closer to Cambridge and Hamilton than Niagara.

African Lion Safari is actually a lot of fun. But DO take the bus tour through the park instead of driving your own car. That way everyone is up higher and everyone can look all around. Well worth it.
They also have a petting area and a bird show.
If you are coming from Michigan, I'd take the 401 to Woodstock and then take the 403 and stay in Hamilton area for the night and have a whole day at Safari the next day. Then carry on to Toronto or NIagara Falls the day after. YOU will easily spend a good part of the day at Safari.

I have to agree with kodi...take the bus thru the Safari trek, just as much fun for the kids and NO damage to your car! I have seen windshield wipers pulled apart, hoods scratched up, and general hilarity ensue as Monkeys have their way as helpless drivers watch the little rascals tear their cars to bits!

The best ever was when vinyl tops were common and the monkeys learned how to peel them off of cars... they are amazingly strong and could pull strips of car top... they are also good at car antennas... oh how I miss monkey destruction of family transportation... those were the days...
