Newfoundland
Hello :
We are planning a trip to NFL for 10 days. We are 9 members of family. We are driving from Toronto.
1 day.Tor. to QUe City
2 day Que to Charlottetown (one day in CT)
3 day CT to Wood Island for ferry to Caribou (night in ferry to Argentia)
4 day from Argentia to St. John's
5 day St. John's
6 day St. Johns
5 day St. John's to Corner brook (night in Corner brook)
6 day CB to St. Anthony to Viking village
7, 8 day in Gross Morne park
9 Port au basques to North Sydney
I would like to know what to do in St. John's and where are the must seen places. We love sightseeing and hiking. The same thing about Rocky Harbour. I know it is close to Groos Morne Park. Where we can stay in the park. Also if we want to saty in L'A A Meadow is there a nice place close to the Viking Village.
I realy appreciate any information you could provide.
We start July. 30 and should be back in Tor. Aug. 11.

In or close to St-John's, there's Signal Hill and Cape Spear. A little further south, there are whale and bird watching trips which I recommend.
Not sure why you would go to Corner Brook when you could stay in Deer Lake or even Gros Morne.
In Gros Morne, the Green Gardens trail is beautiful and not too difficult. The scenery is quite different from anything you can see from the road. Gros Morne mountain is great but it's not an easy walk. I think you could spend a night in Woody Point or Trout river instead of Corner Brook. That or go from St-John's to Rocky Harbour and stop in Woody Point/Trout River on your way back. This would save you some driving.

This is far too ambitious for 9 days. You will spend most of your time driving.
My suggestions:
1. Skip the detour to PEI and save it for another trip.
2. Concentrate on either eastern or western Newfoundland.
If you want to do the west then you will have enough time for Gros Morne and the Northern Peninsula.
If you want to do the east, then you can have time to visit St.John's, the Avalon Peninsula and the Bonavista Peninsula.
Newfoundland is a big island and people sometimes underestimate how long it takes to drive from place to place. You will enjoy the trip much more if you slow down and take the time to visit.
