Nelson to Okanagan Valley - Lodging?
We will be traveling from the Nelson area over Highway 6 down through the Okanagan Valley in mid-July. From Nelson, we only have a few days (Tue-Thu) to visit the valley se we arrive at Lake Chelan in the U.S by Thursday night. It looks like a bit of a drive from Nelson to the Okanagan, and we probably need to be at least in Kelowna or further south by Wed night in order to be in Chelan by Thur evening. Would it be better to try and stay somewhere between Nelson and Vernon Tue night and then further south (Penticton?) Wed night? Any lodging recommendations that won't break the bank (2 adults, teenager and small dog).
Thanks!
Thanks!

Is there a reason why you are going to travel Hwy 6? It is less than 5 hours via Hwy 3 to Penticton and less than that to Osoyoos. From there to Lake Chelan is no more than 2 1/2 hours. There are some reasonably priced motels in the Oliver area that take pets and I am sure some in Penticton as well but it is a very busy time of year so reservations would be a must.

Greetings there, traveller69! Good to "see" you again! You'll have to tell me what you've been up to lately.
BananaSlug - as traveller69 says, it is an easy 1/2 day drive from Nelson (the Hume is a favorite stop!) to Osoyoos. We even make time to stop at the Doukhobor historic site. Scenic and not stressful. In Osoyoos you are in the Okanagan, albeit at the southern end. You can stay there or meander on up to a spot a bit farther up (maybe Oliver, Penticton).
From Osoyoos, we have found it again an easy few hours/half day to Leavenworth. I believe that's farther away than Lake Chelan, so an easy drive (enter the U.S. through Osoyoos).
Have a wonderful trip! Traveller69 is an expert on the Okanagan, if you have questions about that area.

Hi Sludick - we haven't bumped into one another for awhile. Good to "see" you to. We gave up our place in Oliver last summer - we are basically (except for our Arizona winters) full time back in Victoria. My husband has had some medical problems and the closest specialist is Kelowna which is a bit of a drive so we decided it was time to be back in the city.
What are your latest plans? If you get back to Vancouver please come over to Victoria and I will give you a tour of some of the lesser known highlights of this beautiful city. I'd love to show it off so keep in touch.
BananaSlug - if you have any questions at all please post again. Enjoy the Okanagan.

We're heading to Oregon for a few weeks in September. We had a few family trips to make this year, but I would love to take you up on a tour of Victoria if we can get up there.
Might make it to Arizona - my cousin who lives in Everett, Washington, winters in Yuma. If we don't see her there, that will be my excuse to come out toward Victoria.

HI Sludick. I will give you my "internet" email address and if you get a chance send me an email so we can keep in touch. Even if you can only spare a day you could drive to Pt Angeles and walk on the ferry. [email protected] It would be great to finally meet you!
