Moving from the UK to BC possibly Whistler

Hi, we are applying to move to Canada in the next 12-18 months, we are a married couple with 2 kids, ages 9 and 13. Although we love Vancouver we have never lived in a city before so feel it may not be the right place initially. We are a very fit and active family into walking, hiking, skiing and snowboarding etc. and we want to carry on with this lifestyle. Hubby likes the idea of the Sunshine Coast but I am veering towards Whistler. Education for the kids is really important as is a strong community. We do not want to live in the middle of nowhere as its fairly rural where we live now so a place with good schools, restaurants, skate parks and swimming pools would be great. My aim is to own and run a B&B once we are settled, please give me honest opinions, is Whistler a good idea or are there better places?
