Montreal w/ yound boys
My husband and I are planning a trip to Montreal in late August with two boys: 3 and 4. Where should we stay. The boys are happy just watching people. Any suggestions for doing something with the boys is much appreciated.
Thanks,

There is a train museum in Candiac, on the south shore, and kids will like that.
And they'll like Old Montreal. The streets are made of bricks and there are things to climb on.
And the insectarium is fun for even little kids, especially if they have a magnifying glass.

You probably want to stay downtown, since most of the large hotels with pools are in that area. A few ideas for the boys:
-A boat ride on the St. Laurent from the old port.
-Renting a family sized pedal car, and driving around the prominade at the old port.
- The Biodome - very exciting for children.
- Watching the street performers while dining outdoors in the Old City, and up on Prince Arthur street.

THREE and FOUR! I see the question as being what can Mom and Dad enjoy while at the same time distracting the two boys of 3 and 4 enough so they are not preventing a good time.
The horse and carriage ride would no doubt be a romantic and memorable good time for parents while probably giving the boys a thrill/distraction or two. Horses! If done after dark to enjoy the professionally lit city then the boys may even be very sleepy or even asleep.
LaRonde Six Flags Park on the Island if you are into that stuff. May allow the parents to sneak a thrill while the sights and sounds or rides might keep the boys interest. Bonus if going to LaRonde on Saturday night and some Wed.= International fireworks competition at 10pm. Far-bridge/free or close-LaRonde/ admission fee. If the fireworks sounds wont scare them.
If going on a Sunday = Tam Jam drum playing gathering at the base of the mountain might get the interest of all 4 for a while(starts about noon-1pm. find info with search internet), and then a trip up the mountain.
Travel by subway everywhere may provide distraction while transporting to and fro.
I wish my little punkins were 3 and 4 again! I miss those special young years.
