Montreal Hotel : Ritz Carlton or Loews Hotel Vogue
Dear all,
Hi, I have a hard time decided from those 2. I mean both are great hotel. Any comment and suggestions are greatly appreaciated.

If this is of any help at all...
I think of the Ritz as the favorite or older movie stars and producers; Vogue as the hotel of younger movie stars and directors.
The Ritz is the hotel for men who wear ties to work everyday; the Vogue is for men who wear open neck shirts worth more than the shirt and tie combined over at the Ritz.

Excellent description bak. I could add that the Ritz's location would make it a tad quieter in the summer and that the garden restaurant with the duck pond is quite unique....

The Ritz has changed hands several times in the last few years with reports of ever diminishing appeal.
Last time we went by (summer before last), they had closed the popular piano bar.
I'd recommend checking recent reviews at TripAdvisor.com, etc.
Hotel Vogue is currently the best hotel in Montreal in most guides.
You might also want to check out the brand new Sofitel.
The Ritz is quite traditional, whereas the Vogue and Sofitel are both new, slick, modern.

I have stayed at both and my preference is always the Vogue - newer rooms, better furnishings, phenomenal and huge bathrooms with jacuzzi, and amazing bed linens. Good service too. Compared to the rooms at the Vogue, the Ritz is a dump, even though its public spaces are much more elegant. My only major complaint about the Vogue is that there are no coffeemakers in the rooms but I suppose you could always request one.
The restaurant at the Vogue is pretty substandard except for breakfast but there's lots of great places to try nearby so I don't see this as a major drawback.
At the Vogue, make sure you ask for a room on the quiet side of the building (not on Rue de la Montagne). There are no views from any rooms, so you're not sacrificing anything.

I would try the Sofitel also.
I think the Ritz is depressing
It is just so old and stuffy.
The Vogue has lovely rooms but it is not in the prettiest location.
Look into the Sofitel , which is on the same street as the Ritz and see if it appeals to you!
