Montreal Hotel?

Both hotels are very nice but the location is completely different. If you want to be close to downtown Montreal, Ste Catherine Street, Crescent street and the like, go with the Omni. If you'd prefer to be near Old Montreal, go with the InterContinental.

Hi Daniel & Allyn,
We like to walk a lot, so I am looking for something centrally located. Which area is more desirable? We want to be near the restaurants and attractions. Also, is one hotel better than the other?
Thanks again,
Karol
P.S. We're going in June.

If you enjoy walking and exploring neighborhoods, you might enjoy staying more to the east side of downtown, for example the Crowne Plaza. This is situated near the very interesting and French St. Denis, St. Laurent, Mt. Royal, Duluth St.,and Prince Arthur Streets. This is the best part of the city for cafes, shops, and absorbing the French culture. Unfortunately, many first time visitors don't even know about these neighborhoods. On the other hand, staying at the Omni will be just fine, as the Crescent street downtown area is also lots of fun.

I prefer the location of the Omni, near museums and elegant shops (and a few blocks from downtown shopping), rather than the Intercontinental which is in a financial distict/business area but closer to Old Montreal. On the weekends I have been there, the streets in the immediate area of the Intercontinental hotel were a little deserted. I have found the service at both places to be fine, perhaps a bit more "friendly' at the Omni.

In this case, I would also say the Omni. This hotel used to be owned by Westin and previously owned by the Four Seasons company so you can expect that it will be quite good. It is located right in the heart of downtown on Sherbrooke, very close to excellent museums, restaurants, Ste Catherine Street and lots of good night clubs and bars. Keep in mind that Montreal has a very good Subway system that can take you anywhere in the city and it is not complicated at all.
