Montreal- help with luxurious hotel please

We are thinking of going to Montreal for my DH's birthday. I would love some advice on the most luxurious hotel in Montreal. We're looking for full service, great location, luxury. We are in our late 30s/early 40s. I'v eonly been to Montreal once and the place we stayed in was not so great-- i can't remember what it was though.

I have been doing the same research for a 45th birthday trip for my husband. I have personally settled on the Hotel Le St. James, with the W Hotel as a possible runner up.
There is a Ritz Carlton too which I may look into.

Good to know. I'm leaning heavily towards the Hotel Le St. James -- in the old town, and very nice. The W Hotel looks wonderful and modern, and it's a little cheaper, but it's on the edge of old town.

The Montreal Ritz Carlton is closed for renovations. The St James is an excellent choice.

I've loved the Loew's Hotel Vogue - have stayed there 4 times over the past 7 years. Small boutique hotel. Gorgeous bathrooms. Very luxurious feel. I'm hoping to stay there again in May. It's not in Old Montreal though. But it is in a great area downtown.

We've stayed at St. Sulpice twice and loved it. Great location, very spacious, great service.
