Michigan to Quebec City road trip w/ an infant

My husband and I are planning to take a road trip in early September with our infant, who will be 9 months at the time of the trip. We are leaving from Michigan with the plan being to get to Quebec City. I would like to get there in 2-3 days, have 3-4 days to spend in the city and surrounding area, and then get back in 2-3 days. We can take off more or less time, so the number of days we're gone is flexible, though would like to do it in 14 days or less.

Any suggestions on stops (specifically in Canada) between Michigan and QC? We'll be crossing in to Canada near Detroit.

So far I'm thinking we stop in Toronto/Niagra area for a day or two and then just have a long day of driving and go straight to QC from there. On the way back perhaps meander through and stop at the zoo in Granby and/or take a drive through Parc Omega? Not sure where to go from there though, or if those stops would even be worth it. Thoughts on this current rough draft itinerary and any other suggestions for stops? We enjoy hiking and outdoor activities, though any hikes would obviously have to be easy as we would have a nine month old strapped to one of us.

Thank you!
