My daughter and I will be staying at the Westing Harbor Castle Hotel for I.D. competition and one thing we want to do is the Maid of the Mist Tour of Niagra Falls. Are there bus tours from that part of Toronto to the Falls? We will not have a car while in Toronto. We have been told the public transportation is excellent and safe. Is that true as well? We will also want to visit Casa Loma--is that far from Westin and how to reach on public transportation?

The tour desk in the hotel lobby will give you a choice of several ways of getting to Niagara Falls.
Your best bet is probably simple transportation to and from Niagara Falls, sand then take the People Mover there, to go from one area to another. If you can, allow most of a day.
The Maid fo the Mist ticket office has wickets on two sides, so take a quick look at which line is shorter.Even if they look long, it is worth the wait, and besides, the lines move quickly.
Once you've seen the falls themselves, and taken the Maid ofthe Most, there are greenhouses, the butterfly conservatory, some musuems that are slightly tacky but fun, video arcades, and parks to just plain relax in.
The Toronto Transit Commission, called the TTC, has a streetcar route very close to the hotel, or you can walk five minutes to the subway. From here,. it is a short ride to the stop closest to Casa Loma. Also from the hotel take the ferry boat to Toronto Island, and walk west from thehotel to the harbourfront recreational area. From Harbourfront, it is a short walk to the CN Towwer, Skydome (the tour is good) andthen cointinue north on foot from SkyDome/CN Tower (next to each other) up John Street to Queen Street West. Walk west on Queen Street West until you get bored. IF you go north on Spadina, you'll be in Chinatown.
Wear comfortable shoes; this is a city for walking.

Wow! That is all great info and I like the "time saver tips". I am going to print out and bring along with us!
How will the weather be late June, early July....hot? We are from SF so not used to extreme heat.
