Tami, I live in the Laurentians and would be happy to offer some recommendations. Are you an active, outdoorsy type? When are you coming? Most events are seasonal. Also, do you have a car? There are a few attractions and restaurants outside of St-Sauveur that are worth seeking out, but you'll need transportation.

Don-Yes, we will have a car for transportation. We are leaving next week! Last minute trip before school starts. We will have two of our children with us-a 15 year old and a 4 1/2 year old! My son and husband love golfing (reasonable $$). We'd like to rent bikes or go walking. We are rather limited with the 4 1/2 year old with outdoor activities. We also love history and art. I figure we will find that in Montreal though. I really dislike "touristy" resteraunts and shops. We are really looking forward to a good FRENCH dinner! Tami B.

Tami, first the golf because it's close to my heart; the best round in the Laurentians is 'Le Géant' at Tremblant. Not surprisingly, it's also the most expensive (about $100. CDN) The best deal is after 2:30pm weekdays at L'Esterel. A fabulous course and only 15 bucks! Chanteclerc is also a good choice.<P> <BR>You can rent a mountain bike at the Linear Park, and ride a fine, long and safe trail through some beautiful countryside.<P>Your little one might enjoy the water slides at the Aquatic Park in nearby Piedmont.<P> <BR>Bunji jumping in Ste-Adele? Uhh, maybe not.<P> <BR>Even if you don't golf, make it a point to visit Tremblant at least for a day. There's so much to see and do, and there are usually open-air concerts in the evening on weekends.<P> <BR>If you enjoy hiking, you won't have to go far. The St-Sauveur and Avila ski hills are open to the fleet-of-foot for a hearty walk and scenic vistas<P> <BR>There are dozens of boutiques, cafes, and restaurants along the 'rue Principal' which is the main road in town. If you like to shop, there are good deals to be had at the Nike, Reebok, Pantorama, and Swatch factory outlets, among others.<P> <BR>As for the restaurants, here are a few of my favourites;<BR> <BR>Need a good steak? Try 'Gibby's'!<BR> <BR>Italian? 'Da Tulios'... way good!<BR> <BR>French? Gotta send you a little out-of-town here, but worthwhile. 'Amadeus' at the Hotel Excelsior in Ste-Adele. If you need directions, just e-mail me. Have a great time! Here's a few websites that you should visit:<P> <BR>St-Sauveur Tourism site: http://www.saint-sauveur.net/st-sau-an/welcome-menu-an.html#MENU<BR> <BR>Esterel Golf: http://www.esterel.com/golf.htm<BR> <BR>Tremblant: http://www.tremblant.ca/e/intro_.html <BR>
