We've stayed at the Fairmont JPL and found it superb. There were 7 of us (6 adults, 1 child) and we were in the Stanley Thompson Cabin - really quite nice with its separate vaulted living room with stone fireplace, dining room, separate bedrooms each with their own bath, and large veranda. The restaurants were very good. Staff was very attentive. Just a great and memorable experience.
Sorry I can't help you with the Alpine Village, but it's hard to imagine a better experience than we had at JPL.

My wife and I stayed at JPL for a week and really enjoyed it. The drive from Chateau Lake Louise to Jasper was scenice and nice. JPL has a great restaurants, rooms, service and the views were outstanding. I highly recommend it. Good luck.

We have stayed at both at various times in all seasons, have enjoyed both but for different reasons.
Jasper Park Lodge is significantly more expensive than Alpine Village, is that a consideration for you?
JPL is a large Fairmont property, has upscale service and all the amenities of a big hotel. Alpine Village is a collection of comfy and attractive cabins in the woods. So it depends on the type of experience you want and what you're willing to pay for that experience.
Hope this helps . . . . .
