If I have only 2 days on Vancouver Island, where should I go besides Victoria?
We have planned to spend two days on Vancouver Island as part of our 2-week trip in the Seattle/Vancouver area. From what I gathered, it seems like one day is enough for Victoria. If so, where should we spend the 2nd day? Or should we devote both days to Victoria?

two days isn't too many for the victoria area. plenty of beautiful drives or walks you can take. the gardens are nice, there is a butterfly farm somewhere around there, depending on time of year, you could go whale watching, relaxing lunches, dinners on the harbour.
if you feel like you need to leave, take a day trip out to salt spring island. or drive up to qualcalm (sp?) beach.

We visited Victoria and spent 3 nights/2 days two years ago. We toured Parliament, the art museum, and took a guided evening ghost tour. Also visited Buchart Gardens, took a guided tour of the town noted for its totems (sorry-forgot the name).

The town isn't and the drive there is pretty blah. Areas around it are good for hiking or visiting the beach. Hatley Park & castle and the lagoon (out that direction but not as far) might be more suitable for a quick visit.

I would devote both days to Victoria with a Tallyho ride through Beacon park and the historic residential section, half a day at Butchart Gardens, tour of Craigdorrough Castle, Royal British Museum, high tea at the Empress, and wonderful shopping at about 30 percent favorable exhange rate. Check out tourismvictoria.com There are also wonderful restaurants, night clubs, a wax museum, Shakespearean village and many, many other fun places and everything except Butchart Gardens is easy to access on foot. Have fun. I'll be going there again in June and can't wait.

On our trip to Vancouver last October, we skipped Victoria altogether as we're going to London this August. We spent about 10 days in Vancouver and at the last minute decided to take the ferry to the Island and drive to the Pacific Rim. We enjoyed Vancouver tremendously but wanted some peace and quiet. We spent two glorious days in Ucluelet, just south of Tofino I believe. The Cabins was a tremendous place and I've never seen such gorgeous scenery with the rain forest meeting the crashing waves, tons of wildlife and total solitude. I've mentioned this in other posts and will say again we'll skip Vancouver altogether next time and spend our next trip to the west coast of Vancouver Island for much longer than 2 days!
