How to get from Yellowknife to Dawson City?
I really hope someone can help me. I am volunteering for six weeks in Yellowknife and have to get after that at the midst of semptember to Dawson City.
I planned to go by bus from Hay River to Dawson City or Whitehorse but unfortunately I can`t find any bus connection. I also thought about to go by car then, but there are no car rentals available. I also looked up the flights but they are very expensive. Because I am volunteering the most time I have to watch my money. It would be great to find something around 200 or 300$.
So I hope that someone has an idea how to make it. It would be great! Thanks!

Yellowknife to Dawson City is a difficult one.
You have to head south from the NWT, as far south as Grande Prairie, to get a bus connection that will take you into the Yukon.
You should be able to get a car rental in Yellowknife, but even then the drive takes you south to Grande Prairie and then into BC to connect with the Alaska Highway, which is a long drive. (There is another highway that takes you from the NWT to northern BC but it's gravel, narrow and very dusty.) The scenery is beautiful but the services are few and far between once you get north of Dawson Creek, BC.
With your budget, the bus is likely your least expensive option. You might be able to connect with someone in Yellowknife or Hay River that is heading south to Grande Prairie, and share gas costs and then catch a bus from there.
