Hotel for Calgary Arrival?

Hello, Fodors Friends - we will be arriving at the airport in Calgary in August for our visit to Banff area and Jasper. All hotels are secured except for our arrival night. We want to spend the night in Calgary, as I am unable to sit for a length of time due to some serious spinal cord issues, and it will have been a long travel day. I'm not interested in staying at the airport; we'd like to stay in town where we can walk around, go to a restaurant for dinner, have a nice breakfast in the morning before heading to Banff. I've never been to Calgary or any of Alberta before. We found an excellent price for our return night at Kensington Park Inn, but no such luck for arrival night which is on a Tuesday. So far, the hotels downtown seem very pricey ( like $359 and up - too much for us).

Any suggestions?
