Help with your suggestions for Nova Scotia Itinerary

Please give your suggestions for any improvements in this itinerary

Yarmouth to Halifax for 2 nights (using Marriot bonus points) explore Mahone Bay, Peggy's Cove,Chester, Lunenburg.

Halifax to PEI for 2 nights-A huge fan of Anne of Greene Gables -suggestions on where to stay?

PEI to Wolfville/Gran Pre for 2 nights- Suggestions on where to stay?

Annapolis Royal/Digby-Stay 1 night at either of these places- suggestions? Would like to see both areas.

Next day back to Yarmouth and Ferry at 4:00 pm

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated, especially places to stay. Would like to stay at B&B with private baths. Not too expensive.

Regarding places to stay in the Wolfville/Grand Pre area, I recommend a small establishment called Evangeline Inn and Motel in Grand Pre. It is reasonable, clean and about 3 miles from Wolfville. It is across the street from a winery and you have quick access to Evangeline Beach to view the tides. The Inn on the property was the home of Sir Robert Borden one of our Prime Ministers. The cafe on site serves reasonably priced meals. I love their lobster sandwiches at $6.95. Here is their website:

There are serveral very good B & B's in Wolfville. Although I have not stayed at any, I have eaten at a few. Here is another website featuring accommodation in Wolfville. http://www.downtownwolfville.com/bus...gory.php?cat=1
You didn't say what time of year you are travelling, but I thought some of the B & B's were expensive in high season. The Victoria Inn and The Tattingstone Inn are two that were recommended to me.

The biggest suggestion I could give you for improving your itinerary is to include a visit to Cape Breton Island, the most scenic part of Nova Scotia. Since that is likey out of the question, I will comment on some of the other issues. The previous poster mentioned Tattingstone Inn and Victorian Inn in Wolfville and mentioned that he found most of the B&Bs expensive. The reason may be that he is actually looking at Inns rather than B&Bs. Technically, in Nova Scotia, B&Bs are properties with 4 or fewer rooms. They must be owner occupied and they must include breakfast as part of the room rate. As such, they provide a much greater contact between the host and the guest. Tattingstone and Victorian Inns clearly don't qualify in this way. If you want B&Bs, the best site to go to is the Nova Scotia Bed and Breakfast Association website at www.nsbedandbreakfast.com. Members of the Association sign and follow a Code of Ethics and are committed to providing superior hospitality and quality service.

A B&B that I have stayed in many times and highly recommend in the Wolfville area is Carwarden (pronounced Carden) B&B in Port Williams on the outskirts of Wolfville. It has 4 rooms, 2 with ensuite baths and 2 that share a bath. The price is good and the breakfast and hospitality superb.

There are many good B&Bs in Annapolis Royal, but the one that is in the B&B Association and thus the one I know best and would recommend is At the Turret B&B. You can easily cover the Annapolis Royal and the Digby area fromm Annapolis Royal.

Cheers
Rick

Thank you, Rick, for the clarification of B&B's and the Inns I suggested. I will certainly keep the differences in mind the next time I book accommodation in that area.

Thank you both so much for your excellent suggestions. I will be looking into all of them. I do wish we had time for Cape Breton, but we are trying not to do too much, I guess we'll have to save that for next time. Any room suggestions for Prince Edward Island? By the way, we will be traveling in July.
