Hi,
My wife and I are coming to Newfoundland for 11 days at from August 2 - 13. Accomodation is booked; however, I would like some advice concerning our planned activities. Will the gannets still be nesting at Cape St. Mary's during this period and will there whales at either Cow Head or the Avalon peninsula area at this time. Looking forward to revisiting your island in the summer months. Thanks in advance.

Craig,
Yes the gannets will still be at Cape St. Mary's in early to mid-August. The young will be getting bigger 'by the minute' and you should be able to watch the adults plunge-diving into the ocean in search of fish.
On average, August is less foggy at Cape St. Mary's than July.
Humpback whales should still be around on the Avalon at that time, although this varies greatly year to year.
cheers
Jerry
