A friend and I are planning to visit PEI and NS this Aug. We are not sure where to begin our trip, what to do and where to stay. We are thinking of flying into Halifax. If so, what is a good central location, preferably on the water where we can come and go. Is 3-4 days enough to do all of NS? Any recommendations for places to stay or eat? We also would like to take a ferry over to PEI. Again, what is a good location to stay near the water. We like to hike, bike, boat, eat seafood, shop. We are open to any suggestions you might have. Is 10 days enough to cover both places? Thanks

Hi there!
I just want to suggest that you click on my name and then all of the threads in which I've posted will come up, and you should click and read the many Nova Scotia-related threads in which I've participated.
After reading some of those, you may have more specific ideas and questions which I or others will be happy to answer.
The trip certainly is doable in 10 days. It's the exact trip my DH and I are doing in late July (5 days in PEI, 5 days in Cape Breton).
Perhaps our trip will give you a better idea of possible bases. We're going to PEI first, then taking the ferry to NS and heading to the Cabot Trail. We're spending 2 nights in Cheticamp, then going around the Cabot Trail and spending 3 nights in Baddeck. From Baddeck, we can easily go to Louisbourg, for example.
You could also fit a couple of days in Halifax into your plan, but you'd have to shorten your stay in PEI and wherever else you decide to go in NS.
NS is a big province so you cannot see it all and some of PEI in 10 days. You'll have to pick one region and visit that. Also, you'll need to rent a car, otherwise it would be very difficult to get around.
