Hello, I will be in Toronto this week for business. It will be a very quick trip, fly in Monday and fly out Wednesday. I don't have much time for sightseeing except on Wednesday. I fly out of YYZ at 2:25 PM. I'm not sure how much I can squeeze in before I head off to the airport. I'll be staying at the Courtyard Marriott on Yonge St. I would like to go up to the Skypod in the CN tower and take the guided tour at Campbell House. Is this feasible in one morning? How early do I need to leave downtown Toronto to make my 2:25 PM flight? Also, I love big breakfasts. Is there a good breakfast place close to the Courtyard Marriott? Thanks in advance for your help.

You could walk from the hotel south on Yonge Street a few boocks to Richmond Street and Ynge, and have a big breakfast at the new Sunset Grill there.

the Sunset Grill is a long-tiome Toronto favorite in the Beaches neighborhood, and then a branch was added in Bloor West Village, and now there is one downtown.

From there. the real questions is, what's open, when.

You could cross Richmond Street and go into the south-east door of the Bay department store, and cross it kitty-corner, coming out the north-west door, across from Old City Hall.

You could wander inside Old City Hall for a few minutes -- courts -- and then walk west onQueen past Osgoode hall -- walk in it too, if the guards lit you. More courts -- and then cross University Avenue to Campbell House.

It may be open by then.

Then just walk west on Queen to John Street (Starbucks, SEcond Cup, CHUM-CITY TV building, turn south, and walk to the CN Tower/

Skypod is an extra $6, over and above (in several senses) of the admission to the big dough-nut area, where there's a good view, too.

But skypod, an extra 33 storeys higher, is great.

From there, grab a cab back to the hotel, pick yup your luggage, and head for the airport.

I'm told you need two hours at the airport, si I'd try to leave the hotel by 11:30.

You're trying to get a lot in, but there's not much time.

Hi BAK, Thanks for your detailed advice. Given that Campbell House opens at 9:30 and CN Tower at 9:00, I am thinking of going to the CN Tower after breakfast and then Campbell House. Do you see any downside to this order? Between the two attractions, the CN Tower is my higher priority. Thanks!

Hi again BAK, nevermind my last question. Turns out CN Tower opens at 9:30 as well.

BAK is correct; you don't have much time. But I'd head for the CN Tower even before it opens and get a ticket right on the dot of 9:30. It can get crowded, so you won't waste time if you are one of the first to get a ticket. The last time I was there, I stood in line for over an hour after getting my ticket, jsut to get up the tower. Mind you, that was in the summer.

It's been a looong time since we've been there, but don't they have a restaurant up there with window seats? Would it be opened for breakfast?

there are two restaurants high up in the CN Tower.

360 is the fancy one, and very, very good.

But there's also a fairly fancy snack bar kind of a place, with seating and great views, too.

And, come to think of it, there's a restaurant nearby called Cora's that gets excellent reviews. It just serves breakfast and lunch, and is just south of Wellington, on Peter Stteret / Blue Jays Way (same street, two names) This is just north west of the CN Tower, and might be a good place to head before visiting the tower.

then Travelworm could hed back toward Campbell House, and then return to the hotel, pick up the suitcase, and head for the airport.
