Great clothing & accessories boutiques in Montreal?

Hi Everyone! I would like to do some shopping in some of Montreal's funky boutiques. Any suggestions for cutting-edge fashion & accessories (women). THANKS!!

Best is to walk up St-Laurent Blvd above Sherbrooke to Mont-Royal Ave and come back down St-Denis. Lots of funky & trendy stores.

A trip to Montreal is not complete without going to Ogilvy's - more upscale than trendy but worth a trip - it's on Ste. Catherine's at Mountain - lots of other stores on St. Catherine's.

For Ogilvie's, you'd want to look for Ave Montagne (not "Mountain&quot. The street signs are in French. Be advised that shopping here is tres, tres cher, but they do have a MAC boutique!

You might want to check out Simon's right on rue St-Catherine. Otherwise, take the metro to Sherbrooke and walk northwest on St-Denis - chock full of "trendy" and "funky".

We were in Montreal the first week of August and had a grand time hitting all the summer sales! Ogilvies was excellent, I did get a lovely present there and it is nice to have a bite of lunch downstairs when you have tired yourself out from shopping.
I would not call Holt Renfrew "funky" but it is fun for a browse. I did get a great handbag there and some perfume.
Les Ailes de la Mode is a new department store that might be worth a look. I got a great fur scarf last fall for pennies! Well, maybe not pennies but it was definitely a bargain

My 17 yr old daughter and I were just in Toronto and we found the best shops everywhere we turned ... I found a wonderfully perfect scarf at Ogilvy's - on sale no less - and wanted to take the whole case. We both enjoyed walking around Le Plateau (as suggested by folks here) for an afternoon and there the options were unlimited - we both bought at Silkion (another sale - and interesting clothes for both our ages) and then oooh and ahhhed over the more pricey boutiques all around there (with a nice stop at La Brulerie St Denis to rest our feet and drink perfect coffee). Our other favorite shopping spots were 2 "hiphop" stores - Off the Hook (upstairs , across the street from HMV, on St Catherine) and BabyPhat (also on St. C - the only other BabyPhat store is in NYC and the line is fun and well designed by Kimora Lee - lots of logo but it's a great logo<g&gt

Our trip was way too short - and I can't wait to go back and explore Le Plateau some more ... you can't go wrong there.
