On rather short notice my husband and I have booked a trip to PEI this coming June of 2010. We arrive in Charlottetown Monday evening and depart Friday morning. I am looking for a suggested itinerary during our stay as well as accommodation suggestions. For example, is the island small enough that we could choose one central location and explore each day from one home base, or would you suggest moving around the island in order to maximize our activities? Regarding itinerary, with only 3 real days to explore, could anyone suggest an itinerary that would include say, the top 10 must-sees and dos on the island in the most logical order? We are not homebodies and would enjoy very active days. We've been wanting to visit PEI for years and who knows when we'll ever get back, so time to pack it all in! Thanks for any help you can give!

June is a great time to visit PEI. In June you should be able to move around with no reservations as the heavy tourist season is in July and August. It is a small island. You might check my profile and go to my site and then click route M for places arranged in travel sequence.
There are numerous B&Bs as well as motel/hotels around the island - several with golf, if that's of interest.
Take time to walk the beaches. Check the PEI tourist site for events and festivals during your visit - they are strong on music festivals. Go out onto the fishing piers and meet the commercial fishermen. Learn about the island thru their eyes. It's probably lobster season in the western part of the island. Visit the Founders Hall in downtown Charlottetown to learn of PEI's role in Canadian history.
I would make Charlottetown my centre point. Depending on when in June your are arriving, there may still be limited tourism operations (ie restaurants). I would explore the beaches area one day (Cavendish, etc.), maybe another day do the western portion of the Island. Towards the east there really isn't a lot.
