Hi all. A friend and I want to rent a car and drive across Canada from Toronto to Vancouver this summer. I'm planning a tentative itinerary and am wondering if there is a ferry from Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay. We could drive but this would take about 9 hours, according to Google Maps. It seems like a ferry would be the most direct and efficient route for this leg of the trip.
Ferry from Sault Ste. Marie (in Canada, not Michigan) to Thunder Bay?

Hi EarthDayGrrl,
Sorry you received such a rude answer to your first post. No, there isn't a ferry. Here's a link to Travel Ontario's transportation page: http://www.ontariotravel.net/TcisCtrl?site=consumers&key1=travelTools&key2=transportation&language=EN&linkType=I
Thank you very much, ShelliDawn!
Sam Salmon needs to brush up on his 'people' skills... Why nothing to back up your rude response, like an alternative route, or suggestion? Social skills are lacking.
Hey EarthDayGrrl, ShelliDawn's suggestion is a great link, and although the drive from SSMarie seems to take forever, it is very beautiful, and quite relaxing...there are lots of little roads leading down to some awesome scenic spots for great picture taking too. And if you find yourselves getting tired, there are lots of places to stop and grab a few Zzzz's. Hope your trip is memorable, we have done it ourselves several times, as we live on Vancouver Island, and almost all my husband's family live back east...Happy Travels
Hi EarthDayGirl,
The drive from "The Soo" to Thunder Bay has some great scenery as well as long remote sections and lots of flies in early summer. A friend of mine recently completed a cycle trip across North America, actually mostly Canada but for the stretch from south eastern Manitoba to Sault Sainte Marie. She elected to go south of Lake Superior (into the US) for a variety of reasons and found it a good alternative. You might find her website and narrative of interest. Go to edgetoedgecanada.com....She is in the final stages of putting her experiences into an entertaining and informative book.
