Someone mentioned folk festivals to me today, and it got me wondering about making a weekend trip somewhere. I figured I'm not the only one, so I'm asking here:
What's your favourite folk festival? Do you have any recommendations for lodgings, food, drink and other activities near by?
Note that I've tagged this for Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba but that's only because there's a limit on subcategories...anywhere is welcomed. I'm sure some fodorite would find it helpful.
Favourite summer folk (music) festival?

Summerfolk in my home town of Owen Sound is always good and offers high quality music in many genres from Bluegrass to Blues to Celtic to "Folk". Summerfolk is August 14, 15, 16 this year.Summerfolk also has an excellent crafts area.
Owen Sound is on Georgian Bay near the base of the Bruce Peninsula and there are many opportunities in the area for boating, beaches, hiking etc.
Other good festivals include Mariposa in Orillia which is in early July and the smaller Shelter Valley festival near Grafton in early September. Shelter Valley is very much a 'green' festival with a laid back, friendly vibe and high quality musicians.
cheers
Jerry
@Jerry, thanks (belatedly!) for the info. The Shelter Valley festival might work well with our plans this summer/fall.Will check into it.
