Be sure to try "Salt Tasting Room" small plates, wine to match each), or the famous "Vij's" - best Indian food in North America! Get there early 5:30 is first sitting and there are no reservations. Don't miss it. Glowball in Yaletown is really fun. Blue Water Cafe has amazing seafood. "Market" in the Shangri-la hotel is awesome, but even the cafe in that hotel is great. (like really great) Bin 941 and 942 is terrific little funky places. Shall I keep going? I could, you won't be disappointed at the food in Vancouver. Enjoy your stay!

I am sorry my question seems to have been a big bother for some.

Dude, it's Vancouver... about as diverse a city (per capita) as you'll find on this continent.

Just arrive there and let yourself believe that you'll feel your way around and find lots of magnificent choices on your own.

The last thing you should do is to plan/commit yourself to one particular meal/spot.

Lotsa Japanese places here don't do Sushi at all-noodle and BBQ places in particular.

We aren't foodies but we enjoy interesting and fun places.

I agree about Vij's -- we had an excellent dinner there. We put our name down on the list and were told it would be 45 minutes to an hour so we went for a walk on S.Granville Street and stopped for a drink at a restaurant called Ouisi's where they had a Cajun trio playing.

We also enjoyed lunch at Sophie's Cosmic Cafe in Kitsilano. The food is pretty average but the place is fun and then you can go for a nice walk on the beach.

Another place we liked was the Havana Cafe or maybe it was Cafe Havana on Commercial. We took the elevated train to get there and it was a nice ride.

Now the problem is that because we're not foodies, people who are gourmets usually follow up my posts by saying they don't like my recommendations and that's fine. I'm just saying that these are the places we enjoyed but we're pretty easy to please.

There's a great waterfront walk that goes west from the hotel
all the way to the entrance to Stanley Park.

A good resto en route is Cardero's - right on the water.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding places serving meat
- just go up to Robson Street and you'll have a great
selection.

Don't know your budget so it's hard to get specific.

Hi Morninglory47. Thanks for remembering my post. I will bring it to the top. Though, if I remember correctly, I left Vancouver raving about their sushi; apparently that's NOT Dukey's favorite food.

"C" restaurant was very good when I went, but I have heard it's declined. Fabulous setting, though, and I would suspect that there must still be some great options there.

Our Michelin guide recommended Montri's Thai, saying that it is "perennially" voted the city's best. It's reasonably priced and the service is very pleasant. We enjoyed it very much.

gtg: We, also enjoyed Sophie's Cosmic Cafe, food wasn't as good as the ambiance, but the Kitsilano location is good, so after eating the huge breakfasts which seem to be the popular meal choice, one can explore the area which is quite entertaining.
