Driving from Central NJ to Niagara Falls
We'd like to take a road trip up to the Falls, but as it is about an 8 hour drive, for us (from Central NJ) we would like to stop 'somewhere' overnight on the way up, spend two days at the Falls, and stop 'somewhere else' on the ride back, so are looking for suggestions as it is a long ride for only two days.
Also, any suggestions as to where to stay in NF?
Thanks!

If you are just looking for a place to sleep, just pick a chain along the NYS thruway about half way
But if you want to spend a few hours touring...
Consider Watkins Glen in the Finger lakes ... great State park with an amazing trail.. www.watkinsglenharborhotel.com
In Niagara Falls, consider Embassy Suites, Niagara Fallsview Casino and Resort, The Oakes Hotel, and Marriott fallsview...
On the way home, Corning and Ithaca are charming

I'm thinking we would stop somewhere and spend the afternoon and evening, spend the night, get up and get to NF around noon or early afternoon, spend two nights there and hit somewhere else on the way home, spending an afternoon and evening, overnight, getting back to NJ the following evening. Your suggestions sound great, thanks! Everyone says that 2 days is way more than enough in NF, so I want to make the 8 hour ride more worthwhile.
