I have rented a cottage in PEI the last week of August. We live in a small town north of Boston and are going to drive to PEI. We would like to break the trip up into two days. Driving up we thought we would go along the Fundy Coast and coming home go through Fredericton. I have tried to reserve a room at the Algoquin Hotel in St Andrews but it is fully booked. Can anyone suggest a nice motel/hotel about 1/2 way to PEI?

We are taking a similiar trip this comin week. We are leaving from KH,NC and stopping at Sturbridge Village our first night. The second night we are staying at Kings Motel, St. John (888)372-9700 $65 CA.We prefer small indepedently owned accomodations. I have a book with other choices if that doesn't work for you.
If you are going to stay in NB, and want to go through Fredericton, I would suggest staying at depending on your budget, but Delta, Lord Beaverbrook, Fredericton Inn, or for a little outside the city, the Holiday Inn in Mactiquac is beautiful.
Personally, I am not really found of Saint John, I find it to be a dreary city, which is probibly the most industialized in the area. Fredericton is much, much nicer. If you are going to try to stay in the St. Andrews area (very beautiful little town, and very worth a visit) if you can't get the Algonquin, there are a number of B & B's like the Pansy Patch and a few others. There are some other little hotels in the area too, but I can't think of thier names. Lots of choices. I think that a few days in NB is deffinatly a good idea.
