Does anyone know what the conditions on the Carthew-Alderson Trail are typically like inearly June? We're planning a trip through Waterton in early June (not much we can do to move the dates). I'm wondering if we will be able to access the trail or not. Thanks!

I've not been to Waterton in June and am not sure how quickly snow melts there compared to Banff Park hikes, but generally it's mid to late June that hiking season starts. The best people to contact are the Waterton Parks visitor info staff:

We did the Carthew Alderson trail in August twice last year. It wasn't recommended to hike until snow pack and tree fall over winter was cleared away. There was some local(store owner) criticism of the boats running too early for the Crypt Lake trail (taking passengers over to the trail head even though the trail wasn't really safe/clear for hikers. We spent about every weekend from May long weekend until the September long weekend in Waterton and we turned back on two separate hikes in June due to snowpack or unsafe conditions.
