Car/Bus travel between Fairbanks, Dawson City and Whitehorse

Plan to visit Fairbanks after cruise. Would like to know what mode of transportation available between Fairbanks, Dawson City and Whitehorse--bus or car rental. Was quoted that a car rental in Dawson City to Yellowknife would include a drop off charge of $350.00 Suggestions please.
