Canadian SIM card options (in Nova Scotia)?
I am going to be traveling in Canada this summer, and need a Canadian SIM card. In the US, I have been using TMOBILE prepay, and it's quite expensive, imo. Even as a gold rewards costumer, I have to pay 10cents/minute, and 10cents/text message; and that's only in the United States.
When I arrive in Canada, I would like to remove the Tmobile SIM card, and replace it with a local, cost-effective alternative. I will only need to call within Canada. What are my SIM card options in Halifax, NS? That will be my first stop.
And it doesn't need to be prepay again. I can give them the address of my parent's house in Vancouver, and start a monthly billing payment. As long as I get better rates.

The only cellular networks in Canada that are GSM (and hence use SIM cards) are Rogers and Fido. Not sure what type of coverage/plans they have in NS.

Canada is fairly expensive when it comes to cellular rates. You may still find it cheaper to use your own phone/SIM, especially if just making local outgoing calls.
Another option for cellular might be Virgin www.virginmobile.ca They have reasonable coverage in NS. You can get a phone + $10 credit for $59.
If do you decide to try swapping your SIM for Fido/Rogers, make sure your phone is unlocked before you leave.
Similicious is probably your best bet. They have affordable data packages for 1, 2, and 5gb. The sim card is FREE and you only pay for the data package, which is perfect for short stays.
