Can wine be brought to any Montreal restaurant?

Is every restaurant open game for this or is there a designation in the window or what?

Could I bring my Chardonnay to Burger King? Can I add Chablis to my doughnut at Tim Horton's??

The question is not silly--maybe the examples are but not the question!

Ok, fun, fun, fun but I think 'Fish' asked a legitimate question to which I believe the answer is 'no' - most licensed restaurants do not allow you to BYOB - that's why they pay the big bucks for a license. On the other hand I'm only an occaisional visitor to Montreal so perhaps I'm wrong. Louis - you're the Montreal Mavin - what's the answer?

If the place is not explicitly advertised as BYOB, I'd call ahead to find out if I could bring a bottle. I would expect that they would charge something like 20$ for glasses and service. BYOB places don't charge anything.

Most of the Montreal byob places have a little sign in the window in French, that I can't remember, but if you are not familiar with French you may not realize it(is it 'aporte vin?'). Also, most of the byob restaurants are clustered around the Duluth st, Prince Arthur St. neighborhoods. Surprisingly, Quebec City has very few byob places!
