Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa in Victoria: any advice?

Does anyone have any opinion or intel on the Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa in Victoria? Nice? Luxurious? too remote? just right?

Also what sort of weather would one expect in late April or early May?

Thanks

I can't help you too much but as no one else has replied I will do my best.

This is a new property. We live very close and enjoy going for a drink on the deck (in the summer...they have heaters for cooler days...) and their smoked salmon and goat cheese pizza which we love. The dining room menu looked too pricey for us but that is a personal thing. I think they try to serve excellent food and have no reason to belive they don't succeed.

It has a very nice location looking out over Saanich inlet. We are reminded when we sit there why we live here!! As long as u have a car it is not too remote unless you want to be in the action in which case downtown Victoria would be a better fit. We like living out here as we can visit the city and retreat to the country!!

It is close to Butchart Gardens. Haven't seen a room but I would think they should be nice. Their pool area is well located with views over the inlet.

The weather question is more complicated. You can look at the weather averages. Good chance you will have some nice days but of course it can also be wet. It still has beauty even in the rain! This area is seen as having a "modified mediteranean" climate as we are in the rain shadow of the Olympic Moutians in Washington State. We really appreciate the help from down south as we have much better weather than Seattle or Vancouver. At least that is our story and we are sticking to it!!

Hope this helps.

Thank you John2003. How cold in April/May? We've been there in June and for us it was heaven. (We live in Houston) I assume cool, but not bitter cold. It sounds really pretty.

Hello RLUCIDO,

Plug your travel dates into the Weather Underground website's Trip Planner page for Victoria. It will give you not only averages but also lowest and highest temperatures experienced in that date range over the last few years:

RLUCIDO,

We stayed at the lodge last summer for a weekend. The facilities are nice, the rooms spacious and well appointed with fireplaces and large bathrooms. I've heard good things about their spa but did not make use of those facilities during our stay. The staff were all very polite altho the service was a little hit and miss but that may just have been due to the fact that the lodge had just recently opened. Generally a new place has a few kinks that need to worked out.

The restaurant was very good and yes a little on the pricey side but we found it worth the cost. As John said, they do make a good pizza.

The location is ok but not as good as some other lodges on the island where we have stayed ie: Sooke Harbour House in Sooke and the Wickininnish Inn in Tofino, however these are more secluded and picturesque, which is what we generally prefer.

It is a good spot if you intend to spend time in Victoria and if I recall correctly only about a 25 min. car ride away.

Weather is always a hit and miss but generally the temps. should be pretty mild at that time however you may have to deal with some wet weather but hopefully you will luck out and enjoy some westcoast sunshine.
