I also posted this message on the US/NY board, so please forgive the duplication.
We are going to Montreal and Quebec City in July, and originally planned to overnight in the Thousand Island area to visit Boldt and Singer Castles. But now we are wondering if we are trying to fit too much into a 4-day weekend (driving to/from Quebec City is about 9 hours each way, so lots of our time is reserved for driving, although much of it will be done at night). Are the castles really worth sacrificing additional time in Quebec City? If we cut out the 1000 Islands portion, we do plan to return there on a separate weekend so that we can focus on seeing only them (it's about a 5 hour drive each way). QC is so much farther (and harder to reach) that I think our time might be better spent having an extra day there to sightsee. Thoughts?

I've been to Boldt Castle and it was ok but not what I thought it would be. I would spend the extra time in Quebec City. Have a nice trip.
