birthday trip
Hello,
First trip to Toronto or Canada rather....
One King West Hotel & Residence or InterContinental Toronto Centre
I have been reading and the feedback looks good for both but then....
West is a condo building that was a bank (kind of cool)
InterCon is a hotel chain
Thoughts, preference?
I am under 30 - upper middle class with spouse.

A comment on location. The Intercontinental is in the centre of the financial district, so pretty quiet at night. One King West is more convenient for mass transit, sitting above a TTC subway station and on the busiest of the streetcar lines. It has easier access to many of the city's live theatres, although the hotel is near enough the King West entertainment area on foot.

The Intercontinental is mostly a convention hotel, immediately next to the Toronto Convention Centre. (No need to go outside) It's a long block away from the Rogers Centre - Blue Jay Baseball, and an easy walk to the harbourfront area. And it is just another big hotel.
One King West is an interesting project, great architecture, close to lots of places to visit on foot. It's the one I would pick.

OneKing has neat studio apt rooms with a mini kitchen, fridge, and even laundry... When we stayed there some years ago, they had two old classic cars and they dropped us at dinner just for fun... We were cruising Yonge St, just like the old days... We also had brunch in the Bank vault... Creepy but fun...
