Best Western Primose

Any infomation on this hotel? My wife and I are planning a trip to Toronto with her parents. We want to stay downtown, they want to stay cheap.

This property is not the best way to meet Toronto... with a Glut...yes I wrote Glut, of rooms this summer in Toronto, there are thousands of rooms at only a minimal cost upgrade... consider moving closer to the water at the Westin Harbour Castle, closer to the attractions at the Crowne Plaza, Hilton, Sheraton, or Metropolitan...Tell the old geezers that they're spending Canadian money and even consider giving them a gift certificate for the extra $50 (you know they won't turn that down). To experience Toronto, stay in a better hotel... Finally, if all else fails, tell them my story about running into some scary characters after 10pm outside the hotel(its the truth!)

I'm not as negative as Gry, but I'd put the hotel at maybe number fifteen on my list of hotels at which to stay. Whether it would be lower priced than any above it is another questions.

It is a clean, neat, standard hotel across from a park visited often by the cops to keep the dealers away after dark.

It is not really near anywhere special, but it is not far from lots of places. Check out the various brands int he Choice Hotel chain for other lower priced hotels that will probably be better located.

The Primrose neighborhood is much better tan even a year ago, and there's sone Choice property, and a "Grand" hotel in the neighborhood now, too.

So, bottom line? For $20 - $30 more, I'd go somehwere lese. For more than that, the hotel would be fine, and you can spend the money on a better meal in a fancier restaurant.

I did some consulting for the Primrose, trying to build business for it, and the location really is the limiting factor. In the daytime, it is fine, and getting there at night by car, taxi or streetcar is fine, too. Just don't go walking int he park after dark. During the day, go see the flowers in the Allen Gardens greenhouse in the park.

BAK

BAK

Thanks for the help. I shopped around and found 2 rooms at the Novotel Toronto Center that were actually cheaper (w/AAA discount). It wasn't one of the hotels mentioned, but seems to get good recomendations on other boards here. I hope it will be pleasant.

Thank you for the advice on Best Western Primrose Hotel. I have a senior with me. I know she won't feel safe. I am going to change my reservations tomorrow first thing. Thanks again.
