Best way to get to PEI?
Hi:
I'm doing a prelim search on ways to get to PEI from Boston. The airfare is quite high - much higher than expected!
For those that have traveled to PEI, how did you get there? I was initially searching for the time frame of May 17 to May 24.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
TR

Hi,
Since you asked, I took a sleeper train from Montreal to Moncton, New Brunswick and then caught the bus from Moncton, NB to Charlottetown, PEI. Not inexpensive and not out of Boston, so not too useful to you.
However, a lot of people from here drive (sometimes overnighting somewhere in New Brunswick). I'd imagine the mileage from Boston is pretty similar (if not a bit closer?) to PEI, so you could potentially do the same since you have a week (if you have a car). You might even have fun picking a stop in Maine/ New Brunswick to add an extra dimension to the trip.
Hope you have a great time on the Gentle Island!
Daniel

Thank you for all of the responses.
I decided to go to London instead during the dates listed in the original post. However, I am not ruling out PEI. Perhaps I will try in the latter part of summer.

We live in New Brunswick and drive to Boston every once in a while. Very easy drive, 4-lane highway almost all the way from Boston to the PEI bridge (if you're in a hurry to get to the destination). I would rather be driving than go through the airport hassle just for a short flight, but you might not care for the 10-hour drive
Enjoy London, and hopefully you'll get to see PEI eventually - it's beautiful!

we drove, and took our time.
We drove Boston-Bar Harbor and spent a night. Then took the fast ferry (yes, its gone now) to Yarmouth. Spent a few nights in Halifax and then drove the rest of the way to PEI. On the way home we spent a night in Alma, New Brunswick, and then stopped in Bar Harbor for a couple days.
obviously, you could do one very long driving day, or just a single overnight someplace like New Brunswick.
