Hello,
Late May early June Is good.
It varys every year, pending the ice flow, but that time is a good bet.
Where abouts are you going?

I am in the very early stages of planning...Thought about flying into St. Johns and making our way across to the Deer Lake region and flying home from there. We will probable have 7 full days. Was thinking about the week of May 21.
Thanks for responding.

The survivors of The Titanic would confirm that early April would be a good time if you want to see some really big icebergs.

We went in the middle of Juen and it was great for seeing iceburgs in many places. Later on, you may still see them up by Twillingate, but we saw them there, as well as by Trinity and also nar the Bay Bulls area. ( when the puffins are also nesting ).

Last year was supposed to be one of the best years for icebergs in Newfoundland,
but they were too far of shore to get a look. Like I said, it all depends on the flow. Its very undependable. If your looking for whales as well June is a good time. The whales generally come in after the caplin fish in the bays. Lots of places to see them....

We are flying into St John's, staying for 3 days to explore, then driving to Gander for 2 days to explore then to Deer Lake for 3 days of exploring. Flying home from Deer Lake.
Can't wait!!!

Just a suggestion hewegoagain - you may want to spend your last three days exploring Gros Morne and still fly out of Deer Lake. If you do go to Gros Morne book early as accomodations fill up there.

Even though we are not leaving until May 21, I have made all my reservations. We will be staying at the Gros Morne cabins for the last 2 full days of our trip. When I was making our reservations for our accomodations, I did run into one place that was booked. So take katrinasl's suggestion and book early!!
Thanks for all your help - love this forum!!

Gros Morne Cabins is a good choice! The people who run it {unless its changed management} are very nice, and the view is excellent.

We will be flying into St Johns and spending a few days, then going across and we will be finishing our trip in the Gros Moor area, flying home out of Deer Lake.
