It really depends on the weather.
Last year a lot of the resorts were closing up at the end of December January for lack of snow. Then it got cold and snowy in February, so it is really hard to predict.

Hi - although I live very close to a small ski hill, I'm no expert (haven't skiied myself in quite a few years). However, the hill near us usually closes right after our March school break. Although I know others stay open longer, my feeling is that you probably can't count on southern Ontario (Blue Mountain and south) ski hills being open into April. I suggest you phone Blue Mountain and ask them what is typical.
What about the Quebec resorts? They tend to be further north and higher elevations so stay colder longer.

We live in Michigan, so I was looking for something north as an option for Spring Break. We been into Canada for Niagara Falls, but never any place else. Any suggestions for a family with teenagers? Looking to drive rather than flying, even though a trip to Banff sounds really good.

Our school break here is around mid March, and is generally considered to be one of the last good weeks for downhill skiing. The resorts all gear up for it.
I tend to think of April as bit of an off-season month for a lot of outdoor activity in Ontario. Weather can be quite unpredictable. You might try calling the Blue Mountain resorts - although the ski hills of course aren't open yet, the resort facilities are open year round (catering to golfers, etc.) and someone there should be able to give you some idea of skiing probability in April (this is probably the area you would want to ski in - lots of runs, accommodations and facilities). Otherwise, you might want to consider visting Toronto - big city, generally safe and clean, lots of museums, shopping, multicultural neighbourhoods, interesting restaurants, etc. If you've got a few days, you could tack on another visit to Niagara also if you want as the two are maybe 2 hour drive tops apart. You could include a stop in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake which is quaint, picturesque and popular.
