Best hotel in Victoria, BC for 25th wedding anniversary
Need hotel advise for the best hotel for a 25year wedding anniversary trip and what type of room would be best. I was looking at the Mangolia. Has anyone stayed there? No budget. Thanks for you help!

We will not have a vehicle so we prefer to stay in the downtown area. If we decide to rent a vehicle, it would only be for a day of two. I appreciate your reply. I have read that Sooke is a very nice place to visit. Thank you, Kathy

The Erickson Wing at Laurel Point is my favorite place to stay in Victoria. Upscale rooms and delightful balcony. People rave about the enormous bathrooms.
You just can't beat that location in the Inner Harbour - the James Bay side and the Laurel Point have great proximity to Beacon Hill Park, the ocean walk along Dallas Road, Moss Street Market etc etc. If you are planning to walk ... and it's the best way to experience the ambience of the downtown area, you should consider that side of the Inner Harbour.
Sometimes I have a car in Victoria, other times not. The path to downtown along the water is interesting and refreshing... but it's a LOT of walking so make sure you have your best walking shoes.
I have stayed at the Empress a couple of times and even though I love the hotel from the outside, the vines and the rose garden and even the idea of staying at the Empress, I can't say that I would choose to stay there again. The room seemed stuffy with 2 small opening windows, compared with those huge doors that open right on to the ocean at Laurel Point. The room at the Empress was disappointingly dated - Laura Ashley style yellow paisley curtains have stuck in my memory. We did have a lovely view of the boats right across the street in the Harbour and the location is right downtown so there is not as much walking compared to the Laurel Point. No balconies at the Empress.
Congrats on your anniversary!
