best day hikes around St Johns
My wife and I will be in Newfoundland for 5 days in next week. We are looking for the best easy to moderate ( recovering from knee replacement) day hikes. We will be based in St John"s. Also love the regional music. Any recommendations for local pubs. Information would be much appreciated.
PS we are coming from Florida into a hurricane, how ironic.

Check out the East Coast Trail . www.eastcoasttrail.ca
So many sections are scenic but we especially loved Tinkers Point Path at Mobile south of Witless Bay . Turn left at Cod Sein Cove Rd . Be careful or you will miss Mobile !
LaManche Village Path is outstanding. We really loved it.
Hiking from town through the Battery and up the cliff to Signal Hill is amazing , but perhaps too hard on your knee.
Enjoy your time there.

Totally agree with Kodi about hiking UP the Battery...but do not miss the visit to the top of Signal Hill, take a car and then stroll around.
There is a brochure at the tourist information offices in St. John's of walking tours around town, mostly networks of interesting city streets (and St. John's is VERY picturesque) so you should be fine!
