On the end of a planned trip, my wife and I, will be driving from PEI to Hailfax, we would like to see/experience the Fundy tides before we leave. Should I plan on Hopewell Cape or Minas Basin. We will only have one day, possibly an overnight.

I vote for Hopewell. Although I certainly have enjoyed the Parrsboro & Advocate Harbour areas on Minas Basin in Nova Scotia. But that section of the Glooscap Trail, rather than having just one particularly awesome spectacle like Hopewell Rocks, has a scenic coastline with a number of interesting spots to stop and explore. I would save it for when you have a few days.
If you overnight in the Hopewell area, you may be able to see the dramatic contrast between low and high tide. If you can't, I would suggest timing your visit for low tide (there are tide tables available online if you google).
Remember its 12 hours between tides. Definitely check the tidetable to ensure you are able to experience it both at high and low tide.
I would choose the Hopewell Cape area (the rock formations are magical, even if you can't see them on both ends of a tidal cycle), although both are worthwhile. If you have a few extra hours drive on to Alma, a wonderful small village harbour and entrance to Fundy National Park. Really it is too bad you have only a single day!
