Aug or Sep Trip to Cape Breton

Couple in our 70's plan on traveling to NS in early August or Sept. (which would you recommend?) for about an 8 to 10-day time period. Our interests include local happenings, music, scenery, walking (not long hikes), good seafood and good times (not necessarily in that order). Any suggestions and/or recommendations you can provide on our draft itinerary (below), including accommodations & restaurant recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Day 1 & 2 - Halifax
Day 3 - Drive to Cheticamp (overnight)
Day 4 - Drive to Ingonish (overnight)
Day 5 - Drive to Louisbourg (overnight)
Day 6 - Drive to Baddeck (overnight)
Day 7 - Return to Halifax

I used this forum a couple of years ago to a trip to NS, and was extremely pleased with the recommendations made. Thanks so much!

Bumping this up.
I am also interested in suggestions for Cape Breton (camping) and interesting things there and along the route from Boston. Hoping to snorkel with whales.

LOL - I'm still here... (the only person who replied to Vaslim's first post 3 years ago)

Those interested in Nova Scotia ideas can perhaps click on my name and scroll down for posts on various aspects of Nova Scotia and the Maritimes, perhaps finding ones that suit your individual interests.

Update from June posting - plans are being finalized.

Couple from US, in our 70's, traveling 9/6-9/16. Some reservations have already been made, but can be changed. Would welcome any suggestions. We like to visit local areas/towns, love seafood, scenery, some museums, boat rides, level walking, & relaxing - don't have to be on the go all the time. Here are our plans thus far:
9/6 & 9/7 - Halifax - Courtyard by Marriott
9/8 - travel to Mabou & explore (overnight Mabou River Inn)
9/9 - travel to Cheticamp & explore area & towards North (overnight Cheticamp Outfitters B & B)
9/10 - Cheticamp to Dingwall & explore along the way (overnight The Markland)
9/11 -Dingwall to Baddeck & explore along the way (overnight Inverary Resort)

9/12, 13 & 14 - Suggestions???

9/15 - Return to Halifax (overnight Inn on the Lake)
9/16 - Return home

We've heard Meat Cove is lovely. Any suggestions would be welcomed, as well as restaurant recommendations, other things to do & explore. Thanks so much. Loved your previous recommendations!

Well I guess I don't know what you've covered previously... but if I had 3-ish days to fill, beginning in Baddeck and ending in Halifax, my first consideration would be Hopewell Cape, NB... but only if you've not seen it before.

(er, well, I myself would go again, but that is only me

Somebody on this forum was quite interested in Joggins Fossil Cliffs a while back, and I was intrigued by the idea.

Also, it draws you to a(n even more) laid-back area of Nova Scotia to or from which you could take the pleasant shoreline drive from Parrsboro to Truro.

Maybe look up jogginsfossilcliffs.net to see if that, or anything nearby might pique your interest.
